New Music: Listen to Cher “Chiquitita”

Cher Abba

Cher is once again covering ABBA’s Chiquitita, however, this time the classic tune gets a special Spanish update.

Taken from her 2018 ABBA covers album, Dancing Queen, the re-recorded single pays homage to the iconic Swedish pop quartet who also recorded a Spanish version.
The track marks Cher’s first Spanish-language release in the unparalleled 55-year career of the Oscar, GRAMMY®, and Emmy Award-winning legend.
Recording Chiquitita at home, Cher further explains: “I began rehearsing the Spanish version late last year when everything changed in the world. I wanted to help; this seemed like the right time to complete it.
I’ve long admired UNICEF, especially their work educating young women. Now, more than ever, we must prioritize every child around the world as if they were our own
.”

Additionally, Dr. Irwin Redlener (the head of the Pandemic Resource and Response Center Initiative at Columbia University’s Earth Institute) commented: “These are the children and families who have the least access to vital supplies to fight the pandemic.”
Moreover, Cher added: “When I see the devastating numbers of minorities affected with COVID-19, I know we all have a responsibility to help wherever and however we can. With Dr. Redlener’s knowledge and guidance, I hope I can make a difference. We cannot forget the people who are suffering the most.” Watch Chiquitita below.

Similar to ABBA, Cher will donate the proceeds to UNICEF in partnership with Dr. Redlener. CherCares donations will go towards under-served communities of color as well as Native American communities.
