For about a week now, we’ve had Isabela Merced‘s track Papi stuck in our heads.
Now the burgeoning pop star’s back with an official video for the standout track. Specifically, the track’s mesmeric Latin beat along with its feminist overtone makes it undeniably stellar.
Moreover, the Papi music video includes a modern twist of choreography and wardrobe elements from a Peruvian dance called Marinera such as the faldas and the pañuelos.
Additionally, Merced explains in a statement “Different elements of my Peruvian culture, from the coast to the Amazons, are incorporated into every aspect of my music, wardrobe, dancing, and storytelling.
Also, as a fellow Latinx, how many random times have we had someone ask us to call them papi? Too many to count, Merced’s given us the sultry anthem we’ve been missing in our lives.
