Gentefied Netflix

Netflix’s new series, Gentefied, is a Look at How a Boyle Heights Community Fights Gentrification.

Gentefied focuses on family, community, identity, classism, and brown love. Then there’s also the balancing of insta-fame along with translating memes for their parents, been there. However, most importantly, Gentefied will also settle once and for all how to pronounce Latinx.

Initially, a web show co-created by two Chicano first-gen writers, Linda Yvette Chavez and Marvin Lemus, the series’ revised as a half-hour dramedy adapted from the 2017 Sundance digital darling of the same name.

Now, still centered around three Latinx cousins battling to pursue the American Dream. The newly adapted bilingual series navigates their differences yet work together to keep their immigrant grandfather’s taco shop afloat as their L.A. neighborhood faces gentrification at a rapid rate.

Executive produced by America Ferrera, the actress, will also guest star on the series alongside Wilmer Valderrama, as well as direct two episodes.

For that reason, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the series. Now the first trailer’s been released, giving us the first taste. Watch below.
