Watch: The Coathangers “Hey Buddy”

Atlanta punk band The Coathangers have released their newest video for Hey Buddy, a standout track from their acclaimed recent album The Devil You Know.
Directed by Bradley Walther and Jason Lazo on location in sunny Long Beach, CA.

Specifically, the track, Hey Buddy is a direct tackle on women’s issues and trans issues—except with a positive twist since the song touches on different sorts of street harassment.

Additionally, the video features local skate crew Puff Tuff Babes which is lead by local DJ, and scene supporter, Jeannette McDiarmid aka DJ Polyester.

For instance, featuring such bad-ass ladies shake up the power dynamics of street interaction displays the confidence and grit that comes with any kind of street skating.
Likewise, it feels like the perfect union of words in action thanks to The Coathangers’ distinctive lo-fi style.

As revealed by the band, “‘Hey Buddy’ deals with oppression and judgment, and the self-awareness needed to question one’s own fears and prejudices.
