Jehnny Beth is back with a mesmerizing new short film for I’m The Man which even offers a spoken-word cameo from Peaky Blinders’ actor, Cillian Murphy.
Now Savages vocalist Jenny Beth unveiled I’m the Man as a part of the fifth season of Peaky Blinders as well as the series’ soundtrack.
Following the debut, the official music video is out. Similarily to the dynamite track, the video goes into high gear with Beth stamping her way down the street. Her acerbic demeanor’s hypnotic.
In a statement Beth explains, “‘I’m the Man’ is an attempted study on humankind, what we define as evil and the inner conflict of morality. Because it is much easier to label the people who are clearly tormented by obsessions as monsters than to discern the universal human background that is visible behind them.
However, this song has not even a remote connection with a sociological study, collective psychology, or present politics. It is a poetic work first and foremost. It aims to make you feel, not think.”
