Watch FKA Twigs’ New Video for “Cellophane”

FKA Twigs is a true tour de force. The musician, dancer, and visual artist is back with a new release Cellophane. The track marks her first new song accompanied with a visually dazzling video in three years thanks to Björk collaborator, Andrew Thomas Huang.

In a rare insight into her very private life, the British musician revealed to fans on Instagram that she underwent laparoscopic surgery to have six fibroid tumors removed from her uterus at the end of 2017. After the distressing surgery, the video gives a little insight into how Twigs could have been feeling at the time.
FKA Twigs wrote on Twitter: “when I wrote cellophane over a year ago a visual narrative came to me immediately, I knew I had to learn how to pole-dance to bring it to life, and so that’s what I did. thank you @Andrew_T_Huang, for elevating my vision beyond words. you are a visionary.”

The video starts off with Twigs walking onto a golden stage, in a Poison Ivy-esque outfit, ready to take center stage. After brief applause, Twigs begins to pole dance artfully showing that there is plenty of skill, strength, and poise involved) although the world begins to crumble beneath her. Seemingly like the subsequent part for Huang’s ravishing video for Björk’s The Gate. In Twigs’ continuation, there is a shrieking nosedive, which is a feeling all too familiar.

Getting torn down and even being pushed deeper at times only to rebuild ourselves from the ground up.

Brava FKA Twigs, brava. Watch Cellophane below.
