St. Vincent and Carrie Brownstein are Making a Concert Film

We heard back in January that two of our favorite musicians, Annie Clark and Carrie Brownstein, would be together again. Sadly not romantically like in the past instead Clark, also known as St. Vincent, helped produce Sleater-Kinney’s first album since 2015’s No Cities to Love.

Clark and Brownstein are combining their brilliance once again for a comedy concert/tour film.

The untitled film will be “shot like a documentary” but isn’t being called a “mockumentary” and follows the duo as heightened versions of themselves as they interact with assistants, bandmates, music journalists, and of course, fans. Clark and Brownstein are co-writing the project, while Bill Benz, of Portlandia and The Kroll Show will be directing.
Our first taste of their comedic team up were the satirical promos Clark’s album Masseduction which was scripted by Brownstein and featured on Clark’s Instagram account which you can watch below or here, here and here.

The duo certainly have plenty of history with working together, back in 2010 Brownstein and her fellow Portlandia star Fred Armisen co-directed St. Vincent’s music video for Laughing With A Mouth Full of Blood as fan favorites Candace and Toni.

We honestly can’t wait, the very idea of Annie Clark and Carrie Brownstein making music and movies together is pure magic.
