In the wake of last week’s live rendition of We Are The People, accompanied by Laurie Anderson, at Carnegie Hall last week, Iggy Pop’s unveiled a striking new video for We Are The People. Taken from his critically lauded album, FREE via Loma Vista Recordings.
Now, today in honor of Lou Reed’s birthday, Iggy’s released his visual interpretation of a poem written by Reed. The video’s riveting yet poignant that is just as powerful today as it was 1970.
For example, the opening lines “We are the people without land. We are the people without tradition. We are the people who do not know how to die peacefully and at ease” to the song’s slow fade. The effect of Iggy’s close-up recitation is transfixing and everything we love about the icon.
