Omar Apollo returns with a new song Imagine U, which he co-produced with frequent collaborator Kenny Beats. The track follows Frio and Hit Me Up featuring Dominic Fike which Apollo worked on with Kenny Beats.
Apollo further explains, “I’m all about the feeling when it comes to music. The lyrics and melody came to me so naturally, and I feel like free thinking is what’s missing in a lot of music nowadays. I was listening to a lot of daft punk at the time, so I was really inspired by those themes.”
Imagine U‘s everything we adore about Apollo’s music. Equal amounts of funk yet chill despite its lyrics being about heartbreak. For instance, “I wish you could’ve never left me // You’re breaking up, my phone on two percent but you’re not too far from me,” listen below and try not to get entranced.
