Following the release of Stray Bullets, singer/songwriter Joshua Speers has now released a brand new track entitled Oh Brother. Taken from his upcoming forthcoming first major-label EP, Human Now, out on May 8th via Warner Records/Let Me Know.
After moving to Los Angeles, Speers found kindred spirits in the likes of other songwriters. Firstly, there’s Tommy English (Kacey Musgraves) as well as producer Lars Stalfors (St. Vincent, Cold War Kids), who widely wrote and produced Human Now with Speers. Also, Jon Castelli (Khalid, Summer Walker x Drake), who mixed several songs on the EP.
Speers is a quintessential blue-collar singer/songwriter reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen but with a pop twist, described as Speers himself as the lovechild of The Boss along with Carly Rae Jepson. This unusual albeit undeniably catchy combination adds to a layered complexity to Stray Bullets, which’s a self-aware reckoning about a doomed romance.
