London DIY pop duo Emma and Alex Cherryade returns with a brand new track titled I Love Me. The new single joins previous releases’ Do My Thing, Bang Pop. Go Worldwide., and Feel Good from their forthcoming EP Sinking Ship.
Cherryade has nailed the duality of pop bangers with powerful messages as their earworm music is usually jam-packed with witty political and socio-analytical lyrics. For example their tracks Theresa May and Houdini takes jabs at the sociopolitical times. Ella further explains, “We didn’t want to focus too much on the shit storm we’re all in at the moment, both in terms of politics and coronavirus. These are pop songs about feeling confident in the face of everything going on.”
Additionally speaking on the new single, I Love Me, Alex says: “It’s hard to go a day without being bombarded with scary and depressing news. Or to read constant headlines about people getting attacked for their race, sexuality, or gender identity. That weighs on me a lot, so we wrote this about believing in yourself whether you’re ‘different’ or just plain scared with what’s going on – hopefully, it’ll help someone else keep their head up as well.”
Overall, listen below and try not to get hooked on Cherryade.
