New Music: Listen to Activity “Earth Angel”

four piece band

New York City’s avant-garde four-piece Activity have released their newest track titled Earth Angel via Western Vinyl.

Only forming just a year ago, Activity’s comprised of Travis Johnson (vocalist/sampler operator), drummer Steve Levine (both of Grooms), bassist Zoë Browne (of Field Mouse), and guitarist Jess Rees (of Russian Baths). They came together to create a wholly new architecture under the guidance of engineer/producer Jeff Berner (of Psychic TV). Their single sees its creators’ abilities gel with one another to reach new levels of interplay as well as fruitful cooperation.

The result is quite the lead track; the beginning is like a calm and quiet storm. Earth Angel is lulling, then the reverberating vocals build into a mid-tempo placidness, and then the haunting vocals hit like echoing thunder.
Similarly to what the song’s about; “the freedom of a lifelong love. I think we were going for a very Talk Talk Laughing Stock vibe in general. The vocals at the end physically hurt to perform. I could taste blood,” explains vocalist Travis Johnson. That is some serious dedication, listen below or via Apple Music or Spotify.

Lastly, make sure to look out for Activity’s debut album Unmask Whoever which is out March 27th via Western Vinyl. Pre-order HERE. Also, watch out for them on tour, dates are below.
