Joon-ho is an incredibly respected filmmaker overseas, those of us who kept up with his films know that his signature dark humor and audacious takes of social dynamism is what also keeps fans coming back for more.
Not to mention it’s difficult not to like this guy. He hilariously called out the Oscars as local with Vulture’s E. Alex Jung expressing, “The Oscars are not an international film festival. They’re very local.” So yes, we indeed are fans.
