Guava Island has been the talk of social media since the Glover-backed PHAROS festival in New Zealand back in November. Since then, we’ve heard rumblings of the mysterious and highly secretive project from Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, and Rihanna.
After months of speculation, Guava Island, sees Glover collaborating with Hiro Murai again in the highly anticipated Amazon Prime film.
The film also stars Letitia Wright and Nonso Anozie and is being described as a “tropical thriller.” The spoiler-free summation is “On Guava Island, a local musician is determined to throw a festival for everyone to enjoy.” Additionally, the film was written by Glover’s brother Stephen and according to Vanity Fair, it was inspired by films like City of God and Purple Rain.
