GRAMMY® Award-nominated Tame Impala’s garnered worldwide critical acclaim, Currents alone sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. and 2.3 million worldwide.
The highly anticipated follow up album to 2015’s Currents lies within the nucleus of the on the nose title, The Slow Rush.
First, its mellow musical waves wash over you. Although it’s easygoing, there’s an aural seaquake that elevates its progression with transcending dance beats. While as a whole, the album’s slower than most die-hard fans expect but don’t discount it; after all, this is Kevin Parker. The album seems more methodical towards incorporating other elements such as poppier beats and shimmering synths.
Thus, the scintillating synths are a subtle nod to the albums overall more cheerful optimism. The golden aurora makes this an unabashed dance album, and honestly, we’re into its sunny disposition.
Although, not to say that Parker has let go of his proficient psych-rock experimental acid-like jams. Fortunately for us, they’re still there; however, incorporating more R&B as well as dance cadence makes the compositions broader and production higher than before.
