2019 Belongs to Screen Queen Florence Pugh

With many subjective end of the year lists for 2019, we collectively decided on a film list for the year. The year belongs to screen queen Florence Pugh.

Acumulating fans all across social media, our decision seems unanimous as fans are calling it a Florenaissance as well as the rise of the Florence Pugh Hive.
Making her debut in roles like boarding school drama The Falling, the tv movie Studio City, the period drama Lady Macbeth, BBC’s modern adaptation of King Lear, Outlaw King as well as the dazzling series The Little Drummer Girl.

Nevertheless, the film that grabbed our attention is Fighting With My Family earlier this year. Surprising critics with its heart and hilarity, the film set the tone for Pugh’s banner year.
Then came Ari Aster’s sophomore film Midsommar. The final fim for the year is the highly anticipated Greta Gerwig adaptation of Little Women.
Pugh plays Amy, the youngest and bratty March sister. Previously growing up with the 1994 Louisa May Alcott adaptation, Amy was petulant and annoyingly spoiled and my least favorite March sister (I’ve always related more to Jo March). Yet with Gerwig’s adaptation, Amy finally gets her flowers. As a result, the film showcases the breakout stars craft; she’s mesmerizingly compelling to watch.

Excitedly, so far, the new decade will bring forth her Marvel Universe debut as Yelena Belova (who eventually becomes Black Widow/Crimson Widow in the comics). Although not much else is known for the new year, we can’t wait to see what’s next.
In short, Pugh’s year in films shows why she’s such a breakout star with an incredible range as an actress. She cemented her status as not only a scream queen but also a screen queen. 2019, Florence Pugh did that.
